Buprenorphine is a partial opioid agonist used primarily in the treatment of opioid addiction. It helps reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms in opioid-dependent individuals.

Buprenorphine detoxification involves medically supervised tapering. It is often used as a safer alternative to methadone in opioid substitution therapy due to its ceiling effect reducing the risk of overdose.

It is used for treating opioid addiction and is less likely to be associated with mental health conditions compared to full opioid agonists.  Anxiety and Depression are commonly associated with Buprenorphine addiction.

Buprenorphine is sometimes used with other substances like benzodiazepines or alcohol, but this is highly discouraged due to increased risks of respiratory depression.
