Background

Experience and approach.

Edwin Hernandez-Martinez is a residential mental health therapist at Tranquility Woods. He holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Maryland. His experience includes work with veterans, people in hospital-based eating-disorder treatment, and community mental health services.

Edwin considers how trauma and relationships affect a person’s needs. His work draws on cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy—approaches that help people understand thoughts and behavior, manage difficult emotions, and act on what matters to them.

He completed a fellowship at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. He supports people with anxiety, depression, eating concerns, addiction, and relationship difficulties.
